At Castaic High School, we celebrate Kindness Week with many fun activities, thanks to our school’s social workers, Ms. Sachs and Ms. Woskanian. Kindness Week reminds us that even small actions can make a big difference. Little gestures can help create a warm, welcoming environment for students at CHS.
Not only during this week, but throughout the year, especially with the support of our social workers in the Zen Den. Which students can go in anytime at CHS when they need a comforting space.
According to Ms. Woskanian, Kindness Week had a strong impact on her and the wellness center, saying “it was a chance for students to connect and feel noticed.”
A simple act of kindness can help someone when they need it the most. Checking in on someone you don’t usually talk to can really make their day.
You never know what someone is going through. Kindness is a choice, and when someone chooses to be kind, it can shape who they become in the future.
Another one of our social workers, Ms. Sachs, shared a similar perspective. “[During Kindness Week] it gave students a chance to feel connected to each other,” said Ms.Sachs.
This year, Kindness Week took place from January 26th to January 30th. Each day featured a different activity to encourage students to spread positivity on campus.
Monday’s activity invited students to share their kindness on the “Compliment Wall” outside the student store, where they could write and post uplifting messages.
On Tuesday, students played Kindness Bingo in the Coyote Bowl during brunch for fun prizes and a way to connect to their peers. To show some kindness with their peers for kindness week,
On Wednesday, students participated in the “Clip Each Other with Kindness” activity in the ASB room by sharing kind notes written on clothing pins.
The last two days of Kindness Week included rock painting in the Zen Den. Thursday’s activity included Kindness Chalk Art in the Coyote Bowl on Friday. Both days gave students the chance to decorate the ground with positive and encouraging words.
With the support of staff and students, this year’s event was a success. There is no doubt that next year’s Kindness Week will continue to bring joy and positivity to everyone who could use a little extra kindness in their day. No matter what, you should always spread kindness not only on kindness week, but all the time.
