The Unfortunate Reality Of The Valencia Mall
Our local mall, the Valencia Town Center, which once had many happy shoppers, is now so dead that even ghosts are considering leaving.
After many establishments closed in Valencia Town Center, many shoppers believe the new ideas for stores and activities aren’t as fun as the originals.
In the past two years, the mall has experienced many beloved places such as Forever 21, Five Guys, and Hot Dog on a Stick closing down their establishments.
“When Forever 21 closed down, I felt sad because it was a cheap place to get clothes, and now I need to go to more expensive stores,” says sophomore Taylor Dizon.
Not only is the mall one of the few fun activities to do in the Santa Clarita Valley, but it’s also one of the few hangout spots left for teenagers.
“The mall is very dead now, and the excitement I used to have [when going] is gone. When I think of the mall, I think of not wanting to make the drive, even though it’s just 15 minutes away,” comments senior Jocelyn Cedillo.
On the bright side, the mall is expecting new and exciting establishments to take the place of the ones that have shut down, including a bowling and games branch of Round 1 Bowling & Arcade, which is confirmed to come in early 2027.
But is this really what our Castaic students want?
“I think it’s a good idea because our mall is dead, and we need more attractions to bring people in,” stated Dizon.
Other students oppose the idea.
“I think bringing a bowling alley into our mall is not a good choice because we already have multiple bowling alleys in SCV,” expressed freshman James Isham.
While the Santa Clarita Valley mall once thrived as a place of activity, it’s now dead and isn’t bringing the joy it used to.
Besides the recent shutdowns, Santa Clarita citizens are looking forward to what the mall is bringing!

I would like to see a huge roller rink. Not the ones out here that are small. But huge. It’s great for the kids and adults. I do miss that. It was so much fun.
