After the finale many “Stranger Things” fans were disappointed. Behind high hopes, and much suspense the new season left many fans upset instead of the thrill and excitement that their favorite show used to bring.
This started a new fanbase that strongly believed that a secret episode would be released. This theory was titled “Conformity Gate.”
“Conformity Gate” meant that the ending wasn’t real and that the villain of the show, Vecna, trapped all the main characters in a dream world with normal lives.
Unfortunately, these believers of the theory got shut down after January 7th, which was the date for the “so believed” episode would be released.
The Duffer Brothers stated “We do have an idea for a spin-off that we’re super excited about,” they said, but “we haven’t told anyone the idea yet, much less written it.”
Although this may be great news for some fans, many took it harshly and were upset at the fact that the orginal show they grew up on was done.
12th grader, Azul Mancilla, explained her thoughts of the ending by stating, “I am so disappointed because they left so many of my unanswered questions out for the finale, it was heartfelt but not complete.”
Dedicated fans also had many thoughts on potential romantic relationships for the show.
People had conflicting opinions with the love triangle between Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve. While others were focused on Will, Mike, and Eleven.
The Duffer Brothers led us on with the thought that Will and Mike might be endgame.
Many parts of the show shared tension between the two. For example, in the show, there’s countless times Will looks at Mike and romantic music starts playing in the background.
To add onto the confusion an unnecessary with Will and Mike was included. This scene had Will questioning Mike by saying “Friends?” While Mike responds by saying “No” and then continuing his sentence after a pause and leading it with “Best friends.”
Not only have the Duffer Brothers led us on, but they’ve also let fans down with an emotional roller coaster that was heartbreaking, and touching.
