Fernanda Matias, Editor in Chief

Fernanda Matias is the editor in chief of The Daily Howl at Castaic High School. Her goal is to raise awareness for unseen issues in the high school newspaper and encourage students to become more in tune with their perspectives. Fernanda founded the Latinx Culture Appreciation Club her freshman year, where she helps others gain more knowledge and perspective on culture and diversity. Her journalism has received national recognition from Best of SNO and NSPA, as well as awards from Scholastic Art & Writing. She is also on the NSPA honor roll of student journalists since 2022. Outside of writing, Fernanda is an aspiring physician and has accrued a deep passion for biology since a young age. Ultimately, Fernanda wishes to give silent voices a stage and raise awareness for unheeded issues.
