Fourth Time’s the Charm: Meet ASB’s Executive Board

Sophia Perry, Staff Writer

On April 18, students at Castaic High School voted for who they wanted as their new ASB executives. What positions could you vote for?  There were 4  positions to run for, which are President, Vice President (VP), Treasurer, Secretary, and Ambassador. There were 2 candidates running for President, Grace Kelly and Isiuwa Aimiuwu; and for VP, there were 3 candidates, Tara Hofman, Sophia Crawford, and Tylar Arnold. Sienna Harris was the only candidate running for Treasurer, while Vivian Ochoa and Faheem Rahman were running for Secretary. Finally, running for Ambassador was Shannon Smith, Emma Dayrit, and Micayla Darland.

Now for what we have all been waiting for, who won? Isiuwa Aimiuwu won President, Sophia Crawford won VP, Sienna Harris won Treasure, Faheem Rahman won Secretary, and Shannon Smith won Ambassador. They are all Juniors. I asked some of the winners the same 2 questions,

  1. How long have you been in ASB?
  2. What are your goals/plans for your position?

First, I asked Isiuwa Aimiuwu (President).

“I’ve been in ASB for three years. Next year will be my fourth year.” Isiuwa answers the first question.

“My main goal as President is to create memorable events for our students to enjoy. I’m excited to start working on ASB events such as our dances, prom, and fun activities! I’m hoping to have fun competitions between the four grades in an event that I am calling Olympic Week.” She responds to the second question.

Then, I asked Sophia Crawford (VP).

“I’ve been in ASB for 5 years, including Middle School. 6 years as of next year.” Sophia responds.

“I want to introduce more clubs, plan bigger events, and train incoming ASB offices to continue our impact on CHS.”

I also asked Sienna Harris (Treasurer).

“Since Freshman year, I’m approaching my 4th year.”

“Honestly it’s my senior year so this year I’m focusing on fun because I know that’s what my class pretty much has been deprived of and wants most.”

Lastly, I asked Faheem Rahman (Secretary).

“I was in ASB since 7th grade and completely fell in love with planning events. When it was time for me to start High School, ASB was the main thing I wanted to be a part of. I’ve been in Castaic ASB from the first year we started and have also been secretary the entire time.”

“As Secretary, I hope to foster a positive school culture through student involvement. Now that we have a senior class, it’s important to instill traditions so that the years after us can have just as amazing an experience at Castaic. Next year, we’re going to have a better developed student section, Homecoming, Prom, and all the little activities that make high school exciting.”

Congratulations to the candidates that won. So excited to see what this new year with a new council will look like. So many new and exciting things in store for our Coyotes.
