On August 26th, 2025, fans across the world found out about the unexpected celebrity engagement of the year: Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.
This was before Taylor Swift announced her upcoming album, on her then boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s podcast, which he then shares with his brother Jason Kelce Taylor’s newest album name: “The Life of a Showgirl” coming this fall.
Originally, Travis Kelce said in multiple interviews that he was going to propose to Swift on a boat, but he chose his garden at his home in Missouri. Multiple photos from the proposal show a garden filled with pink and white flowers.
Some fans believe this may be the season that Swift’s year is to shine and may even be considered to be a Super Bowl halftime performer. Neither Swift or Kelce has not publicly addressed these rumors about her potential appearance.
I interviewed some Castaic High School students to gather their opinions. If they thought any other celebrity engagements were bigger than this engagement, and how they found out about this engagement.
How did you find out about the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey engagement? (Raquel Higgins, Freshman) “I found out when I was scrolling through TikTok.”
Can you tell me what you think about the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey engagement? (Kendall Cailyn Ballestero, Freshman) “It was really shocking to me at first because this lady has had at least 30 boyfriends in her entire lifetime, but I’m happy for her. I’ve always been a big fan, and it honestly just came up out of nowhere.”
Do you think other celebrity engagements were bigger than this one? (Kendall Cailyn Ballestero, Freshman) “No, honestly, I don’t think so. I haven’t heard of any other celebrity engagement besides this one, unless, you know, unless Zendaya and Tom Holland announce one, then I think that’s gonna be much bigger than theirs.”
Can you tell me what you think about the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey engagement? (Isabella Lapham, Freshman) “I found out about it through YouTube, and at first, I thought it was fake because I found it out through a YouTuber who does like conspiracy videos, but then it popped up on my feed. But then in the theater, it got mentioned, and I found out through the theater teacher after.”
Around campus, various students were asked for their personal opinion regarding the engagement. “What do you think about the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey engagement?” (Dana Dela Cruz, Freshman) She responded, “Um, I think it’s like, very random.” Shortly after, she was followed up by another question, “Do you think celebrity engagements were bigger than this one?” “I don’t think so.” she said.
Various celebrities & close friends to Swift and Kelce respond to the engagement! However, even Swift and Kelce responded by posting on Instagram, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married, with their proposal.” Additionally, Sabrina Carpenter congratulated Swift with heart emojis replying to the couple’s story on Instagram.
Selena Gomez then responded to the engagement on an Instagram post like Carpenter, “When bestie gets engaged!” Swift’s best friend from high school, Abigail Anderson, shared her response to Swift, “This. ”
According to different social media agencies that followed up on this, found out that Taylor Swift’s amount of followers increased up to 1.6 million people on Instagram since the engagement in August! Meanwhile, Travis Kelce had grown to about 894,000 since August 26th of this year!
