A fresh start brings fresh faces here at Castaic High School, and one of them is in the form of a brand new economics teacher, Mrs. Wobrock. After the departure of Mr. Ahn, Castaic High is welcoming a new face to its economics department.
Mrs. Wobrock looks to take over and introduce new energy into her classroom. Her class is essential, as economics plays a major role in the preparation for adult life. The class covers some personal finance, as well as broader economic concepts that can build real-world skills.
Not only is the course good for real-world life skills, but economics is also a required course for graduation here at Castaic, so every student will have Mrs. Wobrock before they leave high school. Wobrock is in her 20th year of teaching and looks forward to teaching her first year here at Castaic.
When asked about her first impressions here at Castaic, she shared, “Oh, I love it, there’s better parking [compared to Hart] and the people are so nice. It’s a completely different vibe from other schools.”
Before joining Castaic, Mrs. Wobrock taught business classes at Hart High School after graduating from college with a major in economics. Although this isn’t her first time teaching economics in general, this year will be her first time teaching strictly economics, stating that she “was ready for a change.”
In response to a question about her decision to come to Castaic, she explained, “Mr. Wobrock told me there was an opening to teach all Econ, and I jumped on it.”
When asked about Mrs. Wobrock’s biggest challenge this year, she explained that “being able to adjust from a traditional schedule to a block schedule” has been her main hurdle so far, explaining that it’s a “shift in mindset” compared to a traditional method of teaching.
Overall, Mrs. Wobrock is looking forward to teaching and is excited to meet new students as the year progresses. From her time teaching at Hart to now at Castaic, she is sure to bring warm light into the classroom. Be sure to give her a warm welcome, and don’t be shy to say “hi” if you see her around campus!
