“Wednesday”season 2 releases after delays, but faces mixed reactions. It was initially planned to be released by late 2024 or early 2025. Though, the series released more than halfway through 2025.
This has already led to many disappointed viewers who were eagerly waiting for the season. Netflix released this show in two parts, which has been done on multiple occasions. However, even that has been infrequent, and this tactic has created negative publicity from viewers.
Freshman Mariah Melo-Walker says, “I don’t feel that good about it. I feel that it got rid of the excitement by making us wait so long.”
“Wednesday” is now facing bad reviews because of the negative feedback from it’s fans. This is part of the reason why hopes for season three are so low.
Some of the viewers are pleased with the results of the new season. Many fans enjoyed the fact that characters, like Pugsley Adams, got more screen time in season 2 by making them a part of the key plot. Many also enjoyed learning more about the Song Compound.
When interviewing students about what their opinions are about the season as a whole, freshman AJ Rodriguez thinks that “It was a very good season. It was definitely better than season 1. I was more interested.”
Fans thinking like this is most likely part of the reason Netflix has already approved the production of season 3.
The newest season has been praised on its cast, writing characters who left in season 1 back into the plot line. As well as its multiple celebrity cameos. The biggest appearance is Lady Gaga. She is in the new season’s second part portraying Rosalie Rotwood. But was she the perfect icon?
Freshman Kendall Ballestero says, “I really don’t mind it at all. She’s such an icon. I think she fits perfectly in the show.”
Gaga’s appearance is a positive light for the show. This cameo has made most viewers happy despite the production delays and might be enough to keep people excited for season three.
“Wednesday” has received quite a bit of praise for its incredible plot twists, as well as revealing characters’ hidden backstories.
Ballestero also stated that, “It was a lot to process especially with everything else that happened in the show. I think it is great for character development. I am really excited to see how Netflix builds on it”
Though some fans feel otherwise, claiming, “There were too many things happening, and it was hard to follow. I wish it was broken up more and less intense,” as stated from freshman Dana Dela-Cruz.
Despite the mixed opinions, people seem to be happy with the results of this season. Though, many still hope that the next season will be cleaner and feel more complete. The official revenue produced by the series will decide how much funding goes into the next season.
