On April 4, 2025 is a Minecraft movie is coming out. The influence and reactions of the Minecraft movie are insane. Many memorable phrases from the film have caused the audience to throw their food in the air, including when the chicken jockey scene came on, making it difficult for the employees because of the mess. It was so good that someone snuck a live chicken into the theater. Many people who have reviewed this movie have called it “Absolutely unforgettable!” on Google movie reviews. If it’s causing these types of reactions, it must be good!
A Minecraft movie (Jared Hess, the director) opens with Steve about to be imprisoned by Malgosha, the main antagonist. Before that happens, Steve tells his dog, Dennis, to hide the orb and its case in another dimension for safety. This leads four “Misfits” to the Minecraft dimension, where their goal is to recover the orb and case to stop Malgosha from destroying the other dimensions. Along the way, Steve shows that the cube dimension is full of creativity and references from the video game.
I do think the mix of realism and cube shapes of the models looks so off-putting that it’s hilarious. Sometimes it didn’t look half bad, like the chicken and bee, but the sheep looked so funny. Also, I loved how the actors delivered their lines. Some of my favorites include “chicken jockey,” “Water bucket! Release!”, “Flint and Sheel,” and “I am Steve.” I have to say, the props for the backgrounds, especially the fact that the props are real, such as the minecarts, show the amount of effort that was put into the movie. Another thing is that the main cast of the movie played Minecraft for 100 days to make it accurate, really showing their dedication to their roles. It’s good to know the actor did have fun while being on the set for such an entertaining movie.
Although I have genuinely positive things about this movie, I have critiques to add. I was a little disappointed they didn’t add the end dimension that’s in the game, and focused more on the nether. There could have been cool concepts, but I get it, it might have made the movie cluttered, and it’s best to just focus on one thing. Another thing that bothered me was the costumes, because I can tell they’re costumes, like Garrett Garrison’s wig.
To wrap this up, even though I think it’s so bad, the movie was funny and extremely playful. The actor had fun. The way Jack Black delivers lines is hilarious, and the props in the movie are very impressive.
