At the heart of Jessica Baio’s debut album, Unsaid is a powerful exploration of silence, what’s left unsaid, what’s buried beneath the surface, and what’s waiting to be expressed. In the track, she uses the idiom “I can’t bite the bullet,” meaning she is unable to endure a difficult or painful situation, like being cheated on by another girl. As the song unfolds, it becomes clear that the betrayal runs deeper. Her partner not only broke her trust but lied right to her face, pretending that everything was fine when he was really stabbing her in the back.
6. “Sharp Edges”
“Sharp Edges”, just like most of the other songs in the album, is part of the recurring theme of relationship trauma, describing what it’s like when you want to leave a toxic relationship but you can’t because you’re afraid of the consequences and feeling trapped.
7. “Easy”
This song discusses how it’s so easy to be in the relationship she’s in because of how perfect it is, from the trust they have to the commitment for each other. Baio shared in the song “I love you, and you love me, it’s that easy”, showing how effortless love can be.
8. “Love’s Not Pain”
The track “Loves Not Pain”, is about her parents divorce and the impact that it had on her life. Additionally, she expressed how witnessing the breakdown of her parent’s relationship affects the way she thought about attachment and how it made her truly question if love was even a possibility.
9. “Every Version”
