The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is back after 2 years of being postponed and cancelled because of the pandemic. Since the festival’s April 2021 dates were cancelled, It has been confirmed that Coachelle will be coming back in April 2022. This year’s lineup definitely makes up for it with Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, and Ye, known as Kanye West, all being headliners. The festival lasts through April 15-17 and April 22-24. It is taking place at it’s usual location, the Empire Polo Ground in Indio, Calif and has already sold out on tickets.
The headliners perform on different days following after a few other artists. On Fridays, April 15 and 22, there will be performances by Phoebe Bridgers, Big Sean, Carly Rae Jepsen, slowthai, MIKA, Princess Nokia, Purple Disco Machine and Logic100 but for the first time, Harry Styles will be taking the stage and headlining the event.
On Saturdays, April 16 and 23, Billie Eilish will be headlining. She also makes history by being the youngest artist to headline at the age of 20 years old. Before her performance, Flume, Disclosure, Megan Thee Stallion, Brockhampton, girl in red, Koffee, Hot Chip, Steve Lacy, Arlo Parks, Floating Points and Holly Humberstone will be performing.
On Sundays, April 17-24, Ye headlines but this is not the first time. In 2011, Ye headlined in 2011 as Kanye West. Before him, Doja Cat, Joji, Jamie XX, Maggie Rogers, Fatboy Slim, Dave, Honey Dijon, Orville Peck, Sampa the Great, and Duke Dumont will be performing.
The original headliners for this year’s Coachella was released in January 2020 consisting of Travis Scott, Rage Against the Machine, and Frank Ocean but it changed due to the event being postponed 4 times. Frank Ocean will be appearing in 2023 and Travis Scott has been removed from the bill due to the Astroworld tragedy.
For people who are going to Coachella, they must have a negative test that was taken within 72 hours or full proof of vaccination. Requirements could change at any time as determined by federal, state or local government agencies. These requirements include changes to capacity or attendance procedures. Masks are highly recommended to cover your face from the dust in the air.
The festival has been moved from April to October then back to April. People still believe the festival will be postponed again and possibly won’t even happen this year.
