Should We Make Jurassic Park In Real Life? Yes, We Should.

It was 1993 when digital CGI hadn’t been done and claymation was still in. Steven Spielberg was hired to make one of the biggest household movies ever: Jurassic Park. In this movie, humans bring back dinosaurs and create a theme park based around them. However, the experiment does not go as expected, and the dinosaurs escape. But, in recent years, humans have been working on trying to resurrect animals such as the wooly mammoth. “Advances in genetics, however, are making resurrecting lost animals a tangible prospect.” Katie Hunt says in her article for CNN. “Scientists have already cloned endangered animals and can sequence DNA extracted from the bones and carcasses of long-dead, extinct animals.” So, if we were capable of doing so with dinosaurs and making a Jurassic Park-like theme park, should we? I think we should turn Jurassic Park into a reality.

One reason why we should bring this amazing park to life is modern technology. Since Jurassic Park was made in the 90s we’d most likely have much better technology than they had so we’d be able to better protect the world if an escape like in the movies ever happened. And with better technology, we could possibly prevent anything like what happened in the movie from happening. In the movie, we saw dinosaurs escape and kill hundreds of people. As shown in the movies though, they had very outdated computers to what we have now and their gates were mediocre compared to what we could make now, but what about the more modern movies? Well, humans are smart, and I’m sure we would know better than to make things like the indominus-rex or the indo-raptor without the proper conditions being met. To add to that, we also have artillery made to take down large animals like elephants, so I’m certain that if we use two or three at once on a creature only a few inches bigger than the tyrannosaurus-rex, we’d be able to take it down with few casualties.

Another valid reason we could bring Jurassic Park into real life is economic growth. Something as big and grandiose as making Jurassic Park in real life would be sure to attract visitors from all around the world. So, this would help every country be able to make money off of flights, hotels, etc. On top of that, attractions inside of the park would also be bought, helping whatever country that this park would be built in’s economy. In order to prove my point, I asked 47 people if they’d go to Jurassic Park/Jurassic World if they made it in real life. A wapping 31 people said yes. So now take that statistic to a larger scale and we’ll see some massive economic flow.

One big problem would be funding such a project. Not only reviving the fossils but raising them, feeding them, and taking care of them, in general, would be a problem, but look no further than billionaires such as Elon Musk. Yes, it may have been the company simply explaining how much money and scientific manpower they have but “We could probably build Jurassic Park if we wanted to,” Max Hodoc says in a tweet.

So with the reasons why we should make Jurassic Park out of the way, it’s a question of will we? It is unlikely that we will ever make something like this but it’s a fun thought. Being able to visit somewhere like Sea World or the San Diego Zoo, but instead of seeing dolphins and orcas, we see velociraptors and triceratops. Or being able to go to a gift shop and buy a real raptor tooth and getting to take a selfie with a parasaurolophus.
